TYPES OF PARTIAL DENTURES
Partial dentures are designed to fill the gaps in your smile when only some of your teeth are missing, not only completing your smile, but also enabling you to chew better. They will serve to maintain tooth alignment by preventing the remaining teeth from shifting.
Acrylic Partial Dentures
These dentures are made of acrylic and sometimes are called “plastic partials”. Depending on the biting forces of the patient, we may suggest a high impact acrylic instead. These can be retained by your natural teeth alone or with metal clasps fastened around your natural teeth.
Metal Partial Dentures
Metal Partial Dentures are usually cast out of CoCr metal. They are firstly designed and built in wax, after which they are casted. Patients tend to prefer these to acrylic dentures due to comfort and less bulkiness. They are however very reliant on the stability of the natural remaining dentition.
Valplast/ Flexible Dentures
Valplast flexible dentures are beautiful, small, comfortable and long lasting. They are made from a translucent nylon material that blends in with the natural gum tissue colour and it becomes virtually invisible when placed in the mouth. Valplast dentures are very reliant on adjacent teeth for support.
Every partial denture is made in house by our dental clinician. 2-3 appointments are required to finish a partial denture and your input and opinion is important to us. At the "try in" stage you get the chance to see what your denture will look like and if there are any necessary adjustments or changes we will do them before the finished denture is delivered. Your opinion matters!!!
